Look Inside Yourself To Find What Makes You Happy

Look inside yourself to find what makes you happy

When you feel lost, when you feel you are missing something, and you are not sure what. When what usually makes you happy no longer does, or when you can not find your inner flame, stop for a moment and look inside yourself.

The best version of yourself is the one that makes you wake up every morning with a smile.

Your mind and your body speak to you. They ask you to stop and look inside yourself. Listen carefully and ask yourself: what do I want?

Sometimes we fly on auto-pilot and do not have time during the day to stop and really think about what is happening to us. Thinking about how we feel or whether we really are where we want to be.

Our main priority is our daily chores, but…  do we really set aside time for ourselves and for what makes us happy?

We must find ourselves in what makes us smile. And what motivates us to continue to enjoy the opportunities we create through our actions.

It is the small details that bring us closer to life. A hot shower, a fresh cup of coffee. Listening to music while walking, drinking a cold beer after work, watching a good movie, or finishing a good book. It’s about telling jokes, kissing and being kissed, about making people laugh…

If we can get that awareness, we will be able to stop and find ourselves. We can turn off the auto-pilot who just rips us off. We can go from “I have to” or “I should” to “new” mode. Even if we do the same things.

Look for exceptions, break your rules

Sometimes we live our lives under strict rules that we set for ourselves. Rules that feel more like a burden that pulls us down.

If I wear a heavy backpack, it will be difficult for me to feel light. It will be more difficult for me to move forward with peace and freedom. It becomes easier for me to fall into the temptation to take bad shortcuts.

By looking for exceptions, I’m talking about how we have schedules and commitments we cannot avoid. But now and then it would be nice to look for a moment to do nothing. To cancel a small commitment and give yourself a break or float with the flow. Gather your energy, breathe, and come back with a big smile on your face.

Personal rules and guidelines are also there to be broken, and at least adjusted. I make plans, but they are flexible enough that I can change them if things (or occasional whims) come up. To feel fulfilled and happy, to be myself. I do not want to be a gingerbread mold, I want to make my own mold.

If something pulls me down, stops me from being me, or does not let me enjoy things, it’s time to make a change. Maybe I can not change the world around me, so I just have to change the way I look at it. Oh l ete after an adjustment will help me free myself and have a more positive view.

Seeing challenges and opportunities

A new job. To travel to a city you have never been to. To meet people from other cultures. Seeing new places. Trying new activities. These are some of the things that can help us escape emptiness. But they can also help us get to know another side of ourselves and enjoy life.

It’s scary to enter a whole new, unknown world. That is why we often do not have enough courage to throw ourselves into it. Perhaps the path we need most is the one we are most afraid of. Our fears can hide a wealth of happiness.

How would I act or what decision would I make if I was not afraid? This is a good question to ask yourself if you want new doors to open.

If we can see within ourselves, we have what is needed. Perhaps unknown territories will give us much more than we think and make us happier.

Seeing challenges and opportunities where other people only see traps and setbacks is something we can work on. And even enjoy.

Happiness is in the small, everyday things. Being aware of them is something we must all learn to do on our own. Sometimes we just need to stop and look at all the wonderful things around us.
