Master Tumushido: A Beautiful Oriental Folk Tale

This beautiful oriental folk tale is divided into two parts. Each of them has its own lesson. The main character in the story is Master Tumushido, a very wise old man who lived thousands of years ago. This master is still remembered today for everything he taught.

The first part of the folktale says that a samurai once lived in a remote village. He was one of the oldest warriors. Everyone knew him because he was extremely angry. He could not tolerate people who opposed him, and he had a big ego.

The master reacted with such harshness and agility that everyone feared him. If someone opposed him, he would just take his saber to make the other person feel scared. This warrior went on a trip and passed through a small village. In the village he saw many people being led to the same place, and that made him curious.

Master Tumushido

The samurai decided to stop one of the men and ask what happened. The man said they were all going to Master Tumushido’s house. The samurai felt confused.

“Who is Master Tumushido?” He asked. The man was shocked. He could not believe that he did not know who he was. “He is the wisest of all masters. Every afternoon he shares his wisdom at this time. Every single person in the village goes out to see him. ”

The samurai felt very curious about this. He had never heard of Master Tumushido, but he understood how respected he was. His pride and arrogance were extremely high. He could not bear to think that anyone could be superior to him.

The meeting with the master

The samurai could not wait any longer, he had to listen to Master Tumushido once and for all and see if he really deserved to be so famous. Then he went to the place where everyone was gathered. When he got there, the master said how words are the most powerful force on earth.

The samurai shouted, “ You are an idiot! The greatest power on earth is the saber, you ignorant man! ” After this, Master Tumushido got up from his seat and shouted: “How dare you say that ?! You are so stupid and ignorant! ”

After hearing this, the samurai became very angry. He approached the master with his saber and threatened to behead him. Tumushido began begging for his life. He said, “Do not kill me, brave samurai. I’m sorry I offended you. I have discovered that your saber is the most powerful thing on earth. ” This calmed the samurai down. He then said, “I forgive you. You’re a good man.”

Consistently, Tumushido returned to his seat and said, “Words represent the most powerful force on earth. Did you see how I dominated you through them? I wanted you to attack me, so you did. When I wanted you to calm down, you did. ”

The other samurai

When the other samurai heard that story, he felt very curious. He wanted to meet the wise man and show him that he could not be dominated by words. He went to the village, convinced that he could prove that Tumushido was false.

When he came to the village, Master Tumushido was in the middle of the square. He spoke to a group of people who listened carefully to him. The other samurai infiltrated the crowd. When no one expected it, he shouted: “I challenge you, old man! You’re just acting! If you are so wise and powerful, show me that you can fight me and defeat me! ” The master stared at him for a moment and gave a sign that he accepted the challenge.

The audience made a circle around the samurai and master Tumushido. The master closed his eyes and sat down in a submissive way. The warrior thought he had scared him and decided to provoke him. He started shouting at him and shouting every insult he knew. But Tumushido did not respond. The warrior kept this going for several hours. He finally decided to leave, and before he did, he indicated that Tumushido was in fact fake.

After the second samurai left, the audience felt confused. Everyone said, “How can you let him talk to you and insult you like that?” “If someone gives you a gift and you do not accept it, who belongs to the gift?” he answered.
